Under the leadership of head coach Mai Duc Chung, the team earned an additional 2.09 points thanks to three consecutive victories in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers, which also serve as the preliminary round for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.

Vietnam’s impressive wins included a 7-0 triumph over the Maldives, a 6-0 result against the UAE, and a 4-0 victory over Guam.

In Southeast Asia, Vietnam leads the regional rankings ahead of the Philippines, which has moved up two places to 39th globally. Meanwhile, Thailand dropped seven places, now ranking 53rd.

On the continental level, Vietnam is ranked sixth in Asia, following Japan (8th worldwide), North Korea (10th), Australia (15th), China (16th), and South Korea (21st).

Globally, Spain has overtaken the United States to claim the top position. Sweden climbed three spots to second place after winning all four matches in the UEFA Women’s European Championship 2025. England also improved its standing to 4th, while Germany dropped to 5th.

The current ranking reflects Vietnam's consistent performance and provides a strong foundation for the team as it aims to defend its title in the 2025 AFF Women’s Championship, currently taking place in Hai Phong and Phu Tho.

FIFA is scheduled to release the next update of the women’s world rankings on December 11, 2025.
