According to the Ministry of Health, approximately 15,000 healthcare professionals nationwide will undergo digital literacy and AI training over the next two years as part of a push to accelerate digital transformation in the healthcare sector.

On July 18, Hanoi Medical University held the opening ceremony for the project “AI Opportunities for Healthcare Workers.” Associate Professor Dr. Luong Mai Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology, and Training under the Ministry of Health, emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) plays a key role in advancing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, issued by the Politburo, which outlines breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

AI is reshaping the future of global healthcare by supporting image-based diagnostics, optimizing treatment processes, and personalizing patient care. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Health considers AI a vital tool in building an intelligent healthcare management system, aiding in diagnostics and treatment, developing disease warning software, and monitoring public health. The “AI Opportunities for Healthcare Workers” project is a strategic move to equip the medical workforce with the necessary skills to lead the sector’s digital transformation.

The goal is to train at least 15,000 healthcare workers between 2025 and 2026, fostering the application of AI in clinical care, scientific research, and medical administration.

The program consists of five core modules, taught by globally certified trainers from Google. Key topics include optimizing work efficiency using AI tools, crafting effective prompts, applying AI responsibly and ethically, and keeping pace with AI developments in healthcare.

Participants - ranging from managers and administrators to doctors, pharmacists, and university lecturers - will receive foundational knowledge and hands-on training with experts. The curriculum is tailored to different professional groups to ensure practical relevance in daily operations.

Beyond skill-building, the project aims to cultivate a culture of innovation within the healthcare sector, supporting sustainable digital transformation and enhancing the quality of care. Healthcare professionals will learn to harness AI to boost productivity, reduce errors, and modernize workflows.

This initiative also aligns with major directives from the Party and Government, particularly Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 71/NQ-CP on “Digital Literacy for All.”
