The decision was approved during the FIFA Council meeting on October 2. FIFA also emphasized its commitment to supporting Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan in fulfilling his responsibilities in this new role.
The FIFA Committee for National Team Competitions advises the FIFA Council on strategic planning, organization, and management of major international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, U20 World Cup, U17 World Cup, and other official FIFA events.
In addition to this new role at FIFA, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan currently holds several high-ranking positions in both continental and regional football bodies. These include: Member of the AFC Executive Committee, Chairman of the AFC and AFF Competition Committees, and Member of the AFC Asian Cup Organizing Committee for the 2023-2027 term. Most recently, he was appointed by the AFC as Head of Men’s Football at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
In other appointments, VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu was named a member of the FIFA Medical Committee, while VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha was appointed a member of the FIFA Women's Football Committee, both for the 2025-2029 term.
These recognitions of Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan and other VFF representatives by FIFA continue to affirm the growing reputation and influence of the Vietnam Football Federation in the international football arena.
