Dr. Do Quang Loc and Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh, both born in 1992 and currently 33 years old, have been recognized as the youngest associate professor candidates in Vietnam this year.
The State Council for Professorship has just released the list of 933 applicants nominated by grassroots-level councils for consideration of meeting national standards for the academic titles of professor and associate professor in 2025.
According to the list, the youngest candidates for associate professorship in the country are Dr. Do Quang Loc and Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh.

Dr. Do Quang Loc hails from Bang Mac commune in Lang Son province. In 2014, he graduated with a degree in Physics, specializing in Modern Electronic Engineering, from the University of Science under Vietnam National University, Hanoi. After graduation, he stayed on to teach and conduct research in the university’s Faculty of Physics. By 2017, he officially became a lecturer.
In 2019, at just 27 years old, he obtained a PhD in Physics with a focus on Radio and Electronic Physics from the same institution.
In March 2023, Dr. Loc was appointed Deputy Head of the Department of Radio Physics within the Faculty of Physics at the University of Science.
Currently, he is a lecturer in the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications at the University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
His main research areas include the study, design, and fabrication of advanced microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) and microfluidic systems for biomedical applications, as well as the development and optimization of electronic circuits and signal processing systems for biomedical devices.
To date, Dr. Loc has completed one national-level research project, one ministerial-level project, and two institutional-level projects.
He has published 78 scientific papers, including 36 articles in prestigious international journals, and holds two exclusive patents and utility solutions.
In his application for associate professorship, Dr. Loc shared that he had dreamed of becoming a university lecturer since his school days and has persistently pursued that goal. Throughout his career, he has strived to fulfill his duties with dedication in his role as an academic.

Another 33-year-old candidate is Dr. Nguyen Ha Thanh from Nong Cong district in Thanh Hoa province. In 2015, she graduated with a degree in Chemistry, specializing in Organic Chemistry, from the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
In 2020, at age 28, she earned her PhD in Chemistry, specializing in Molecular and Macromolecular Chemistry, from Rennes 1 University in France.
From July 2015 to October 2024, she served as a research fellow at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Institute of Chemistry, under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
Currently, she is a senior researcher in the same department and also serves as a visiting lecturer at the Graduate University of Science and Technology.
Her primary research focuses on the synthesis of peptidomimetic compounds with potential as CD95/PLCy1 protein-protein interaction inhibitors, and the development of heterocyclic compounds through multicomponent domino reactions and evaluation of their biological activity.
To date, Dr. Thanh has completed five research projects at institutional level and one at the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology level.
She has published 71 scientific papers, including 46 in prestigious international journals.
In 2024, the youngest associate professor in Vietnam was Dr. Tran Ngoc Mai, born in 1991, a lecturer at the Faculty of International Business of the Banking Academy.
