Immediately after the tornado, the hospital activated its red alert emergency protocol. In collaboration with the Kim Bang District Medical Center, emergency teams, ambulances, equipment, and supplies were deployed directly to the scene to perform onsite triage, first aid, and transport injured victims to the hospital for further treatment.
By 11 p.m., the hospital had admitted 15 patients. One had succumbed to injuries at the scene. The remaining victims suffered multiple injuries including trauma to the head, chest, abdomen, limbs, and soft tissues. Several were in respiratory distress.
Upon arrival, specialists in emergency care, trauma, surgery, and diagnostic imaging were mobilized to assess and manage the patients. Operating rooms, intensive care units, and laboratory services were placed on full standby.
Patients were prioritized based on injury severity and underwent full-body diagnostics including imaging and lab tests. Initial treatment included wound cleaning, suturing, splinting, and close monitoring of vital signs.
Dr. Vu Van Dat, Director of Ha Nam General Hospital, emphasized that this was a mass casualty emergency. “We immediately activated full red alert status and mobilized all available medical personnel to respond at both the site and hospital,” he said.
As of the latest update, most patients are in stable condition but continue to receive close monitoring and intensive care.
