The visit came at a highly symbolic moment, as both Vietnam and the United Nations commemorate their 80th anniversaries, and Vietnam and the U.S. mark 30 years since the normalization of diplomatic relations.
According to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang, with nearly 70 diverse and impactful activities, President Luong Cuong’s diplomatic mission achieved all key goals at the highest level, leaving notable marks on both multilateral and bilateral fronts.
This diplomatic trip exemplified Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization, alongside proactive and deep international integration.
Deputy Minister Giang noted that the statements made by countries at the UN General Assembly’s high-level debate, as well as the discussions held with President Luong Cuong, reaffirmed a shared global aspiration for peace, cooperation, and development.
He emphasized that the majority of countries continued to support multilateralism, with the UN at the helm, while the UN Charter and international law remained essential anchors for countries to jointly address global challenges and safeguard national interests. These principles are foundational for sustaining peace and stability and directing national resources toward development.

The messages conveyed by President Luong Cuong and the Vietnamese delegation at the UN - a global multilateral platform - strongly reinforced support for multilateralism, the central role of the UN, and adherence to international law as guiding principles in resolving global issues.
President Luong Cuong’s speeches shared with the world Vietnam’s journey from the ruins of war and poverty to its current status as a dynamic, middle-income developing country poised to enter a new era of prosperity.
Deputy Minister Giang highlighted that Vietnam’s commitments go beyond words and are backed by concrete actions. These include its active participation in key UN bodies such as the Human Rights Council, the International Law Commission, and UNESCO agencies. Vietnam also continues to lead major multilateral UN initiatives.
During this trip, Vietnam and Tuvalu officially established diplomatic relations, making Vietnam one of the few nations in the world to maintain diplomatic ties with all UN member states.

Regarding relations with the United States, the President and his delegation sent a powerful message of “leaving the past behind, overcoming differences, and looking to the future” as the two countries celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations and two years of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
“In his emotionally resonant meetings with veterans and peace-loving American citizens, President Luong Cuong emphasized healing and reconciliation after war. His engagements with the U.S. government, Congress, state officials, businesses, and major corporations fostered optimism about the future of the bilateral strategic partnership - one that serves both people and business communities in both countries,” said Deputy Minister Giang.
He added that, following the outcomes of the President’s U.S. trip, Vietnam must now prepare meticulously for the upcoming signing ceremony of the UN Convention on Cybercrime, scheduled for October in Hanoi.
Deputy Minister Giang called for deepening ties with other nations and organizations by enhancing cooperation through international and regional frameworks, and maintaining regular dialogue on security, political issues, and shared global concerns. This strategic engagement will help Vietnam mobilize international support and resources to further national development.
