APEC consists of 21 member economies, including major global players such as the United States, China, and Japan. Nine APEC members are also part of the G20. The forum represents around 38% of the global population, contributes 61% of global GDP, and accounts for 47% of world trade.

The 32nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting is expected to foster high-level dialogue and cooperation, address global challenges, and promote progress in economic and trade issues. The summit aims to strengthen the international environment to facilitate stable trade and investment flows, resilient and inclusive growth, and sustainable development.

The summit also aims to establish deeper cooperation in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, while creating momentum for public-private partnerships. These efforts are geared toward mobilizing resources for green transformation, energy transition, strategic infrastructure development, and greater economic connectivity among member economies.

Vietnam became an official member of APEC in 1998, marking a key milestone in its foreign policy of openness, diversification, multilateralism, and international economic integration.

Over nearly three decades of active participation, Vietnam has made significant contributions to peace, cooperation, and regional economic integration, helping maintain APEC’s status as a premier economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region.

President Luong Cuong’s working trip is also an opportunity to further deepen the strong political foundation of Vietnam-South Korea relations. The visit aims to effectively implement past agreements and commitments, enhancing substantive and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
