On the afternoon of August 26, the Central Steering Committee for Major National Celebrations and Historical Events (2023-2025) officially launched the Press Center for the 80th National Day Anniversary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The ceremony was attended by Nguyen Trong Nghia - Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and Standing Deputy Head of the Steering Committee; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh; Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung; Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture and Society Nguyen Dac Vinh; Director General of the Voice of Vietnam Do Tien Sy; and Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh - Director of the Press Center, along with representatives from various central ministries and agencies.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh emphasized the significance of September 2, 1945, when President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's independence at historic Ba Dinh Square, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He called it a monumental event that ushered in a new era for the Vietnamese people: an era of independence, freedom, and happiness.
Binh described the 80th National Day celebration as a historic and meaningful occasion for the nation, an opportunity to honor heroic milestones, instill patriotic values, reinforce national solidarity, and nurture a shared aspiration for peace. The commemoration also honors the sacrifices of past generations and reaffirms the determination of the Party, the people, and the military to build and defend a strong, united Vietnam.
He further noted that the 80th anniversary events will reinforce public trust in the Party and State and rally national unity to effectively implement strategic policies and guidelines. These efforts will inspire citizens and officials to overcome challenges, seize opportunities, and fulfill the goals of the 2020-2025 Party Congresses, the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and various Central Committee resolutions, driving the nation into a new era of prosperity.
Binh also highlighted the symbolic placement of the Press Center in the National Assembly building, near Ba Dinh Square. He stated that the center will coordinate and facilitate the work of approximately 1,550 journalists, both local and foreign. It will also serve as the official source of information on anniversary events, manage press operations, and process media-related requests, playing a key role in the success of the commemoration.
As part of the launch ceremony, the Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, unveiled a special commemorative stamp set titled “Celebrating 80 Years of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).”
The set includes a single stamp and a souvenir block. The stamp portrays President Ho Chi Minh in a contemporary graphic style, blending solemnity and warmth. His face radiates kindness, and his eyes reflect the unwavering dream of national freedom. The design combines clean, elegant lines with the red and yellow colors of the national flag, highlighting the revered leader as an eternal symbol of patriotism, resilience, and peace.
The souvenir block features the national emblem and a map of Vietnam, symbolizing territorial sovereignty, especially maritime sovereignty. The background incorporates the iconic Dong Son drum pattern, evoking Vietnam’s deep-rooted history and rich cultural heritage.
