On the evening of October 2, a China Southern Airlines flight from Shenzhen landed at Terminal T2 of Da Nang International Airport with more than 170 passengers on board.
The city hosted a welcome ceremony attended by leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and other agencies.
Upon arrival, passengers were greeted with vibrant traditional performances and received souvenir gifts.
The official launch of the Shenzhen - Da Nang route opens up promising opportunities to attract tourists and enhance trade.
It also serves as a strategic link connecting Chinese travelers to central Vietnam and vice versa.
This development is expected to drive Da Nang’s efforts in restoring and expanding its international flight network with China.
According to the plan, the airline will operate six round-trip flights between Shenzhen and Da Nang throughout October, with expansion scheduled for subsequent phases.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ho The Anh, General Director of Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company, noted that it had been 5 years and 8 months since China Southern Airlines last connected to Da Nang.
“We hope these flights won’t just carry tourists, but also bring in experts and investors to explore partnerships in Da Nang,” he said.
“This will create more opportunities in tourism, trade, and investment.”
Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, emphasized that China remains a key international market for the city.
For many years, China has ranked second in the number of tourists visiting Da Nang.
Reconnecting with Shenzhen holds significant value, helping to strengthen ties, accelerate recovery, and boost tourism growth.
