While returning from working in the fields, a mother and daughter from Trung Ly Commune, Muong Lat District, Thanh Hoa Province were tragically swept away by sudden floodwaters while crossing a stream.

According to Trung Ly Commune People's Committee, the incident occurred due to intense local rainfall, which triggered unexpected flooding in the area, leading to a heartbreaking loss.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on August 20, at the Cha Lam stream area in Kham 2 Village, Trung Ly Commune, Mrs. Thao Thi Dua (born in 1974) and her daughter Sung Thi Sua (born in 2014), residents of Kham 1 Village, were crossing the stream on their way back from the fields when the surging floodwaters carried them away.

Upon receiving the emergency report, local authorities and residents quickly organized a search and rescue operation. By 3:20 p.m. the same day, Mrs. Dua’s body was discovered approximately 500 meters from the scene and was returned to her family for burial in accordance with local customs.

The local government has directed relevant agencies, political and social organizations, and the police, border guards, military, and civil defense forces to continue searching for the missing child. Additionally, they are providing support and condolences to the bereaved family and implementing further measures to aid in the ongoing search.
