During Vietnam’s first-ever naval parade held to celebrate National Day on September 2, the appearance of the Kilo 636 submarine squadron drew intense public attention across the country.

The performance of the Kilo 636 submarines not only showcased Vietnam’s maritime strength but also served as a vivid testament to the strategic foresight of the Party, the State, and the Central Military Commission in defending national sovereignty proactively and from afar.

The Kilo 636 is a modern diesel-electric submarine hailed worldwide as the "black hole of the ocean" due to its stealthy operation, low noise levels, and difficulty of detection. Equipped with advanced weaponry including missiles, torpedoes, and naval mines, the Kilo 636 has become one of the most powerful deterrents in the Vietnam People’s Navy arsenal.

The modern missile systems onboard enable precise strikes while evading enemy air defense fire, ensuring superiority in both independent operations and coordinated combat with other forces.

The Kilo 636 squadron’s participation in the parade not only reflects the remarkable advancement of the Vietnam People’s Navy but also sends a strong message affirming the nation’s unyielding determination to protect its sacred maritime sovereignty.

This is the fruit of a far-sighted vision, clearly expressing strategic thinking in building a modern, regular, and steadily advancing military force capable of meeting new mission requirements.

In the proud eyes of millions of citizens watching the event, the image of the Kilo 636 submarine confidently gliding across the waves has become a powerful symbol of Vietnamese strength and will, ready to safeguard peace, independence, and freedom for the nation.
