Heavy overnight rainfall caused widespread flooding in Ho Chi Minh City, leading to the collapse of a factory and the entrapment of nearly 100 workers.
On the morning of October 23, the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Division of the Ho Chi Minh City Police reported that it had conducted multiple rescue operations throughout the night to save individuals stranded due to flooding.
Around 1 a.m., the Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Division received reports that multiple households in Ben Cat Ward were trapped by rising floodwaters.
Immediately, the division dispatched vehicles and dozens of officers to the scene, coordinating with Team 3 (Facility 1) of the rescue unit to form several task forces for evacuation efforts.
At Cau Doi neighborhood in Ben Cat Ward, rescuers safely evacuated seven residents who had been cut off by floodwaters.

By approximately 2:35 a.m., Team 3 received another urgent alert: heavy rains had inundated and collapsed a workshop at Mai Thanh Wood Co., Ltd. in Ben Cat Ward, trapping nearly 100 workers inside.
The rescue unit immediately deployed personnel and equipment to the site.
All trapped workers were successfully evacuated to safety.
A specific rescue team led by Captain Nguyen Thanh Tam managed to extract 38 workers who had been completely isolated by floodwaters.

In another location - Quarter 5 of Ben Cat Ward - the rescue team evacuated 20 more people, including many elderly individuals and children, from flooded homes.
According to authorities, the rescue missions took place under extremely dangerous conditions, with water levels reaching nearly 2 meters in some areas and currents flowing rapidly due to a heavy influx of rainwater.
