Seven senior figures, including a former city party secretary and a provincial vice chairman, face prosecution in a widening corruption probe.
Authorities in Thanh Hoa Province have approved the prosecution and temporary detention of seven individuals, including former Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa City, as part of an expanded investigation related to real estate mogul "Bau" Doan.

The Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Procuracy has approved decisions to prosecute and detain seven suspects following an expanded probe into the case involving Cao Tien Doan, known as “Bau” Doan. Among those detained is Le Anh Xuan, the former Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa City.
According to the provincial procuracy, on the night of August 28, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency executed a search warrant and urgently arrested Cao Tien Doan (born 1960), Chairman of the Board and CEO of Dong A Real Estate Group Co., Ltd., on charges of "violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences."
Related to this case, further investigations by the authorities led the procuracy to approve prosecution and temporary detention orders for seven individuals:
Le Anh Xuan (born 1973, Party Secretary of Hac Thanh Ward - former Party Secretary of Thanh Hoa City), Tran Anh Chung (born 1974, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade - former Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People’s Committee), Le Mai Khanh (born 1972, Chairman of Dong Son Ward People’s Committee - former Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa City People’s Committee), Tao Minh Hanh (former Director of the Thanh Hoa City Land Fund Center), and Vu Hoang Tan (former officer of the Thanh Hoa City Land Fund Center).

These suspects have been charged with "abusing position and authority while performing official duties."
Additionally, the investigation agency has prosecuted and detained Tran Tat Hung (Director of Lam Son Auction Partnership Company) on charges of "taking bribes" and Ha Van Hieu (an employee of Dong A Real Estate Group Co., Ltd.) for "violating regulations on asset auction activities."
Cao Tien Doan, who was arrested earlier for accounting violations, is also facing additional prosecution for "violating regulations on asset auction activities."
In a related development, the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Procuracy has approved the prosecution and detention of Nguyen Van Thi, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee, on charges of "abusing position and authority while performing official duties."
