Metro Line No. 1 will offer free access using chip-based ID cards or app-generated QR codes on September 2.

On August 28, Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1) announced that it would waive 100% of ticket fares for passengers traveling on the Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) on National Day, September 2.

Passengers can choose from two methods to access this fare exemption. The first method is to use a personal identification card or chip-based citizen ID card to scan directly at the fare gate.

The second option involves using a QR code generated via the HCMC Metro HURC app. Passengers only need to download the app, select the “Independent QR” feature, generate a code, and scan it at the gate for free access.

Importantly, passengers should only use one of these two methods on September 2. If a standard ticket is purchased instead, the system will charge the fare, and the operator will not refund the amount. The “Independent QR” feature will only be available from September 2 and will be valid exclusively on that day.

Residents of Ho Chi Minh City will enjoy free rides on the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien metro line on National Day, September 2.
