A heartfelt video of Trang saying goodbye to her cherished pet duck Bim Bim has recently gone viral on social media.
In the clip, she holds the white duck tightly in her arms, crying as she expresses her gratitude: “Goodbye, Bim Bim. Because of you, my family’s life changed for the better. Thank you, Bim Bim. Goodbye, Bim Bim…”
After being posted online, the video quickly spread across platforms, garnering over 2 million views and hundreds of thousands of comments.
Most viewers expressed deep sympathy and shared heartfelt messages with the girl in the video.
The owner of the video is Nguyen Thuy Trang (born in 2002, from Vinh Long).
The white duck, who had just passed away, had been with Trang for many years and had become an inseparable part of her life.
Before his passing, the duck – affectionately named Bim Bim – was already well-known, frequently appearing in videos on Trang’s social media accounts and loved by many followers.
Trang shared: “Bim Bim and I were together for more than six years. Thanks to him, my social media channels grew in popularity. Only three months after featuring Bim Bim in my videos, my accounts took off, providing a steady income. That allowed me to support myself and help my parents.”
Thuy Trang grew up in a financially challenged family.
In 2018, she began creating content on social media using an old phone gifted by her brother.
At first, she posted videos about life and food culture in the Mekong Delta.
Though the content was carefully made, it didn’t gain much traction.
It wasn’t until Bim Bim appeared in her videos that her channel caught attention and gained popularity.
The white duck came from a batch of “bad eggs” – duck eggs bought by Trang’s mother as food that typically wouldn’t hatch.
One egg, however, showed signs of life, so her mother placed it in the nest of a black duck that was still brooding.
A short while later, the egg hatched into a white duckling that Trang named Bim Bim.
Being the only white duck in a brood of black ducklings, Bim Bim was rejected by the mother duck and excluded from the flock.
Trang noticed the lonely duckling during her routine visits to the coop and decided to bring him into the house to care for him separately.
From that day on, the two became inseparable.
To Trang, Bim Bim wasn’t just a pet – he was a companion and a beloved member of the family.
Throughout six years, Bim Bim was present during every major milestone in Trang’s life.
In 2024, on her wedding day, Trang and her husband took wedding photos with Bim Bim by their side.
After the video was shared online, it quickly amassed over 2 million views and thousands of comments.
So, when Bim Bim passed away, Trang was devastated.
She recounted: “On October 13, I noticed Bim Bim wasn’t well, so I rushed out to buy medicine. But when I came back, he was already gone.”
“Everyone in my family was heartbroken. We all agree that Bim Bim was the reason our lives improved,” she said. “After Bim Bim, I have no intention of raising another pet. The bond we shared was truly unique.”
