Brazilian midfielder Hendrio Araujo da Silva has officially been granted Vietnamese citizenship, taking the Vietnamese name Do Hoang Hen.
Born in 1994 in São Paulo, Brazil, Hendrio showcased his football talent from a young age. He was trained at Barcelona's famed La Masia academy before moving on to Real Betis and Recreativo de Huelva in Spain.
He went on to play for several European clubs, including Atlético Onubense (Spain), Sioni (Georgia), and Portuguese teams Paços de Ferreira, Fafe, and Varzim B.
In 2021, Hendrio arrived in Vietnam and joined Topenland Binh Dinh, quickly becoming one of the most creative midfielders in the V.League.
With exceptional ball control, tactical vision, and refined passing, Hendrio emerged as a key figure in helping Binh Dinh achieve a series of impressive results.
After two successful seasons, he transferred to Thep Xanh Nam Dinh and continued to shine. During the 2023/2024 season, he was among the most consistent performers, playing a pivotal role in the team’s remarkable run of form.
At the beginning of 2025, Hendrio joined Hanoi FC, bringing high expectations to bolster the capital club’s strength in both domestic and continental competitions.
Obtaining Vietnamese citizenship marks a major milestone in the 31-year-old's career. With the name Do Hoang Hen, he now qualifies to play as a domestic player in the V.League and opens the door to potentially represent the Vietnamese national team in the near future.
Hendrio could become the “golden link” in head coach Kim Sang-sik’s tactical setup, especially in the attacking midfield role—a position where Vietnam currently lacks players with creativity and unpredictability.
According to FIFA regulations, Hendrio must complete five consecutive years of residency in Vietnam to be eligible to play for the national team.
Having been naturalized in 2025, he may make his debut for Vietnam in early 2026, potentially in a World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Malaysia.
