Do Hoang Hen couldn’t hide his joy during the citizenship ceremony held at the Hanoi Department of Justice on the morning of October 17.

Wearing a traditional Vietnamese ao dai, Do Hoang Hen fluently sang the national anthem during the flag ceremony before receiving his naturalization certificate.

“I am extremely happy, proud, and deeply grateful. I am now officially a citizen of Vietnam. I love the country and the people here. I am eager to dedicate myself to Vietnamese football. I will work even harder to earn everyone's trust and give my all to Hanoi FC and the Vietnamese national team,” Hen shared emotionally.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Department of Civil and Judicial Administration under the Ministry of Justice, the Hanoi Department of Justice, the Vietnam Sports Administration, the Vietnam Football Federation, Hanoi FC, Do Hoang Hen himself, and his family members.

With citizenship in hand, Do Hoang Hen is now eligible to play in the 2025/26 LPBank V-League from Round 7, when Hanoi FC hosts Ninh Binh at Hang Day Stadium at 7:15 PM on October 18.

He and his wife were visibly emotional during the citizenship ceremony, marking an important milestone in his life and career.

Do Hoang Hen has been regarded as one of the top foreign players in the V-League in recent years, known for his technical finesse, modern playstyle, and ability to create game-changing moments.

Should coach Kim Sang Sik call him up to the national team, Do Hoang Hen’s inclusion could significantly strengthen the Golden Star Warriors.

Brazilian midfielder Hendrio Araujo da Silva has officially been granted Vietnamese citizenship, taking the Vietnamese name Do Hoang Hen.

Born in 1994 in São Paulo, Brazil, Hendrio showcased his football talent from a young age. He was trained at Barcelona's famed La Masia academy before moving on to Real Betis and Recreativo de Huelva in Spain.

He went on to play for several European clubs, including Atlético Onubense (Spain), Sioni (Georgia), and Portuguese teams Paços de Ferreira, Fafe, and Varzim B.

In 2021, Hendrio arrived in Vietnam and joined Topenland Binh Dinh, quickly becoming one of the most creative midfielders in the V.League.

With exceptional ball control, tactical vision, and refined passing, Hendrio emerged as a key figure in helping Binh Dinh achieve a series of impressive results.

After two successful seasons, he transferred to Thep Xanh Nam Dinh and continued to shine. During the 2023/2024 season, he was among the most consistent performers, playing a pivotal role in the team’s remarkable run of form.

At the beginning of 2025, Hendrio joined Hanoi FC, bringing high expectations to bolster the capital club’s strength in both domestic and continental competitions.

Obtaining Vietnamese citizenship marks a major milestone in the 31-year-old's career. With the name Do Hoang Hen, he now qualifies to play as a domestic player in the V.League and opens the door to potentially represent the Vietnamese national team in the near future.

Hendrio could become the “golden link” in head coach Kim Sang-sik’s tactical setup, especially in the attacking midfield role—a position where Vietnam currently lacks players with creativity and unpredictability.

According to FIFA regulations, Hendrio must complete five consecutive years of residency in Vietnam to be eligible to play for the national team.

Having been naturalized in 2025, he may make his debut for Vietnam in early 2026, potentially in a World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Malaysia.
