With over 500 delegates in attendance, including senior leaders such as Nguyen Van Tho, Standing Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City; Nguyen Ky Phung, Head of the SHTP Management Board; and Dang Tung Son, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of CMC Technology Group, the event emphasized Vietnam’s growing role in global innovation. Participants also included representatives from the Department of Science & Technology, Hutech University, international experts, and the broader tech-business community.

The conference, part of SHTP’s 23rd anniversary celebrations, aimed to link Southeast Vietnam’s tech enterprises with global innovation networks, focusing on key strategic technologies such as AI, cloud computing, green energy, and smart manufacturing.
As a co-organizer and strategic partner of SHTP, CMC played a central role in both the conference and the technology exhibition. The group introduced its AI Transformation (AI-X) roadmap and its open C-OpenAI ecosystem - highlighting Vietnam’s leadership in digital transformation, AI development, and the sustainable knowledge economy.
CMC unveils three strategic initiatives for AI transformation at SHTP
During the plenary session, Dang Tung Son, SVP and CSO of CMC, presented the paper “CMC’s AI Transformation Initiatives: Collaboration & Co-Creation at SHTP”, unveiling three forward-looking initiatives in partnership with SHTP.
Initiative 1: Developing a $250 million hyperscale data center at SHTP
CMC is currently constructing the CMC Hyperscale Data Center in the eastern region of Ho Chi Minh City. With a total investment of $250 million, the facility is positioned to become the “AI Heart of Ho Chi Minh City.” It will offer GPU infrastructure, cloud services, and AI-as-a-Service for enterprises, while drawing global tech investors to Vietnam. This project received investment approval from the SHTP Management Board on June 24.

Initiative 2: Boosting cloud computing infrastructure to meet AI demands
Alongside digital transformation, the rapid expansion of AI is driving demand for advanced data-processing capabilities. CMC is working closely with SHTP to scale up digital infrastructure, offering large-scale compute power to support SHTP’s operations and bolster Vietnam’s data sovereignty and national security.
Initiative 3: Building an “AI City” in partnership with C4IR at SHTP
CMC is collaborating with the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) to launch a strategic program for city-wide AI transformation toward 2045. The plan centers around four core pillars: Digital Economy, Digital Government, Digital Workforce, and Digital Society.
CMC’s AI vision is anchored in three priorities: establishing leading AI capabilities in Vietnam and the region; ensuring ubiquitous AI applications; and fostering a balanced, human-centered AI ecosystem.
To realize these goals, Mr. Son proposed a four-party collaboration model: SHTP provides the infrastructure; the city acts as the operator and promotes the AI City vision; C4IR serves as the bridge linking policy, academia, and industry; and enterprises like CMC commit to co-developing, managing, and operating the AI ecosystem.
“The most critical factor in this collaboration model is the ‘Vietnam factor’ - leveraging Vietnamese data, engineers, people, and infrastructure to safeguard national digital sovereignty,” emphasized Mr. Son.

CMC’s C-OpenAI ecosystem shines at the innovation exhibition
CMC’s exhibition booth was a major attraction at the conference, drawing interest from domestic and international experts and business leaders. The showcased technologies, all developed in-house by Vietnamese engineers, included CIVAMS, CMC AIBOX & AIVISION, CLS, C-Energy, and C-AIOffice.
These "Make in Vietnam" solutions embody CMC’s commitment to connecting government, academia, industry, and the research community. They also reflect the group’s alignment with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and Resolution No. 31-NQ/TW, which aim to position SHTP as a multi-disciplinary center for science and technology, promoting sustainable regional development and making Ho Chi Minh City a leading hub for high-tech and AI innovation.
On the sidelines of the event, CMC Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh stated: “CMC is proud to accompany the Saigon Hi-Tech Park in promoting AI transformation and technological innovation. Initiatives like the hyperscale data center, the national AI platform through the open C-OpenAI ecosystem, and the national CMC Cloud infrastructure not only serve Ho Chi Minh City but also contribute significantly to Vietnam’s national strategies for science, technology, digital economy, and green development.”
