
In September, Bac Ninh Province recorded export revenues of nearly USD 9.88 billion, far exceeding Ho Chi Minh City’s USD 7.65 billion, marking the third consecutive month Bac Ninh has held the top position nationwide for export turnover.
According to preliminary data from the General Department of Customs (Ministry of Finance), Vietnam’s total merchandise exports in September reached approximately USD 42.67 billion. Cumulatively, in the first nine months of 2025, total exports amounted to USD 348.7 billion, up 16% year-on-year.
When measured by provinces and cities, Bac Ninh ranked first in September, followed by Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong (USD 4.34 billion), Phu Tho (USD 3.46 billion), and Dong Nai (over USD 3 billion).
Over the nine-month period, Ho Chi Minh City maintained the highest cumulative export value, at USD 68.65 billion, with Bac Ninh close behind at USD 67.03 billion - a narrow difference of USD 1.62 billion.
Completing the top five were Hai Phong (USD 33.82 billion), Phu Tho (USD 26.56 billion), and Dong Nai (USD 25.77 billion).
Data from the Customs Department showed that domestic enterprises contributed USD 85.4 billion to total exports, a modest 2% increase, while foreign-invested enterprises (including crude oil) generated USD 263.3 billion, up 21.4% from the same period last year.
Foreign-invested enterprises continued to dominate Vietnam’s export structure, accounting for 75.5% of the total, while domestic firms made up 24.5%.
During the first nine months of 2025, 32 export commodities exceeded USD 1 billion in export value, making up 93.1% of total exports.
Notably, seven product groups achieved exports of over USD 10 billion, representing 67.9% of the country’s total export value.
The leading export items included:
Electronics, computers, and components: USD 77.49 billion, up 45.9%
Phones and accessories: USD 43.59 billion, up 4.1%
Machinery and equipment: USD 43 billion, up 13.5%
Textiles and garments: USD 29.74 billion, up 8.6%
Footwear: USD 17.79 billion, up 7.4%
Vehicles and parts: USD 12.78 billion, up 13.3%
Wood and wood products: USD 12.45 billion, up 6.8%
Experts said Bac Ninh’s consistent rise reflects the strong performance of major electronics manufacturers operating in the province, which continues to anchor its industrial growth.
