The iPhone 17 series arrives with significant upgrades, most notably in battery life, as Apple continues to improve the user experience on its latest devices.

While Apple typically does not disclose exact battery capacities, new energy label regulations in Europe required the company to list battery specifications on its iPhone product pages. As a result, official mAh ratings for the iPhone 17 lineup have been revealed.

iPhone 17 standard edition

The standard iPhone 17 features a 3,692mAh battery, a 3.7% increase compared to the iPhone 16’s 3,561mAh. Despite the modest bump, Apple states that the iPhone 17 can now support up to 30 hours of continuous video playback - an improvement of 8 hours over the previous generation. This gain is attributed to the efficient A19 processor built on a 3nm process and the optimized iOS 26 operating system.

The device also supports fast charging via a 40W USB-C adapter, reaching 50% battery in just 20 minutes, which adds convenience in urgent situations.

iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max

Apple is calling the iPhone 17 Pro a "breakthrough" in battery life. The Pro model now boasts a 4,252mAh battery - an 18.7% increase from the iPhone 16 Pro. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro Max houses a 5,088mAh battery, up 8.6% from its predecessor.

According to Apple, the iPhone 17 Pro supports up to 31 hours of video playback, one hour more than the standard iPhone 17.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max continues to lead the pack, with Apple calling it the best-performing battery ever on an iPhone. It can play video for up to 37 hours - 4 hours longer than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.

This longevity is supported by a new aluminum unibody design and a vapor chamber cooling system, which together help maintain performance and reduce heat buildup over time.

Both Pro models support fast charging - 50% battery in 20 minutes with a 40W adapter - ensuring consistent power on the go.

iPhone Air

Despite its ultra-thin form factor, the iPhone Air still manages to fit in a large enough battery for all-day use. Apple claims that the combination of the A19 Pro chip and iOS 26’s smart power management allows for a full day of productivity.

When paired with the MagSafe Battery accessory, the iPhone Air can extend video playback up to 40 hours - ideal for frequent travelers. It supports various charging methods, including a 40W wired adapter and MagSafe/Qi2 wireless charging at 25W.

Pricing and availability in Vietnam

The iPhone 17 is now available for pre-order in Vietnam starting at 7:00 p.m. on September 12, 2025. The base model with 256GB of storage is priced from 24.99 million VND (approximately 1,020 USD).
