On the morning of November 28, along Hoang Hoa Tham Street, students and teachers quietly formed long rows in front of the school entrance to pay their final respects to Nguyen Van Truc, the former vice principal, who passed away at the age of 66.
The procession paused briefly at the school gate as family members gently scattered white flowers along the road - a gesture of gratitude to the school community for their heartfelt tribute.
As the hearse slowly passed, all students and staff folded their arms and bowed in silence, expressing deep respect and gratitude to a teacher who had devoted many years of his life to education. A student representative stepped forward to offer a bouquet of white flowers, symbolizing a final, heartfelt farewell.
This solemn, unified gesture left a lasting impression. According to fellow teachers, Mr. Truc was a humble and devoted educator, always close to his students and colleagues. Even after retirement, he remained a regular and supportive presence at the school.
Speaking to VietNamNet, Vo Thi Ngoc Bich, current vice principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem High School, recalled that Mr. Truc had been transferred from Chau Thanh High School (then in Ba Ria – Vung Tau, now part of Ho Chi Minh City) to their institution in 2002. He served as deputy secretary of the Party cell and vice principal.
"With nearly 40 years of teaching experience and 27 years as a Party member, he dedicated himself fully to education. He received several provincial-level certificates of merit for excellent teaching, the honorary medal from the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the commemorative badge for his contributions to education," Bich shared.
